About us
This is the Kiwi Firefighters Calendar. In just two years, the calendar has raised more than $60,000 for Movember.
History
The Kiwi Firefighters Calendar was established in 2024 by former firefighter Bevin James who witnessed first-hand the tragic outcomes of men who had suffered or died prematurely due to not looking after themselves – physically or mentally.
And he’d seen some of his firefighter mates die early, too.
Bevin wanted to do something that would make a positive difference to men’s lives. And he had a hunch that a ‘cheeky’ fundraising calendar would work.
Why support us?
We aim to raise funds for the Movember Foundation New Zealand. Movember funds men’s health programmes around the world including the Whanaungatanga programme in New Zealand designed to help improve firefighter mental wellbeing.
A key part of mental and physical well-being is keeping physically active. We use our imagery of real firefighters in the calendar to showcase the link between being physically active and improved mental and physical health.
The photos in the calendar are real; no AI, no filters!
A note from
Bevin James, Founder
We all have days when we feel a bit low; our energy levels aren’t great and we’re a bit grumpy or withdrawn. But if those feelings continue over a few weeks, and include low self-worth thoughts, it’s ok to reach out for help. Doing so is a strength not a weakness.
Talk to your mates. Talk to your whānau. They’ll respect you for it.
