About us
This is the inaugural Kiwi Firefighter’s Calendar. We aim to satisfy the demand in New Zealand for the original version of the traditional firefighter’s calendar to return. A version still used in many countries including Australia, USA, The United Kingdom, Canada, France, China and many more.
We also aim to raise funds for the Movember Foundation New Zealand. Movember fund many men’s health programmes around the world including the Whanaungatanga programme in New Zealand designed to help improve firefighter mental wellbeing.
The calendar
The inaugural Kiwi Firefighers calendar features 12 former and current serving firefighters from around New Zealand baring (almost) all to raise awareness of men’s mental health and well-being across society.
A key message of this calendar is firefighters are resilient but we are not invincible. For most of the incidents we attend most of the time we will be fine, especially if we use healthy coping mechanisms. However, sometimes a particular incident or a combination of organisational and life stresses can overwhelm even the most resilient people. If this happens, we should know it’s ok and necessary to reach out for help.
Our cause
We aim to raise funds for Movember New Zealand who fund more than 1,250 innovative men’s health projects that have made a real difference in the lives of men.
A common perception is that firefighters are almost hero-like with no weaknesses and no fear. However, the reality is firefighters are vulnerable to trauma, anxiety and stress just like everybody else.
It is important to note that this calendar is NOT a Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) calendar and as such all participating models are acting in a private capacity independent of FENZ.
